Susanne Willis, LCSW
Therapist
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I have been practicing since 2016. I received my Masters in Social Work from the University of Georgia. While working on my masters I spent time with the Division of Family and Children Services as a case manager. I completed my practicum as an intern in the community-based setting which allowed me the opportunity to have direct contact with clients in their environments.
I have spent the majority of my career working at a psychiatric residential treatment facility. My time there increased my knowledge and understanding of the impacts of trauma, abuse, neglect, and substance use. I have utilized skills from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Seven Challenges (substance use). These different modalities have increased my skill set to offer the best support in addressing life challenges.
As a social worker I approach issues from a systems perspective. This means that during the therapeutic process I work with clients to identify what other factors may also be impacting struggles they face. This can include stressors at home, work, and the community. I also work with clients on identifying goals they would like to achieve and skills that will help them be successful. Additionally, I greatly value establishing a strong therapeutic rapport in order to ensure clients have a sense of safety during the therapeutic process.
Currently, I offer individual therapy to adolescents ages 13 and up and adults. I have experience working with trauma (PTSD), aggression, anxiety, abuse, neglect, substance use, and body image. I greatly enjoy working with clients who are in transitional stages of life, including graduating high school or college, or in the process of career changes. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming. I look forward to helping you on your journey.
