Corey Hindman, LPC
Therapist
Corey Hindman began his career as a volunteer sexual violence/domestic violence prevention educator. Working with a group of other male volunteers, Corey worked with student groups, campus organizations, and community partners, to discuss how to recognize consent, establish healthy relationships, prevent sexual violence and domestic violence, and assist those impacted by sexual violence and domestic violence. This volunteer work led to a position as a peer health educator where Corey was able to expand the subjects he discussed to include drug and alcohol safety, sexual health, mental health, and general wellness.
Corey went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminology. Corey then enrolled in a Master of Education program for Guidance & Counseling. During this time, Corey began working as a Case Manager for the Juvenile Drug Court where he worked with adolescents (and their families) experiencing behavior, substance use, and mental health related concerns. Corey also began working as a group counselor with a substance abuse treatment program for individuals with multiple DUI convictions. Following completion of his Master’s degree, Corey returned to the University of West Georgia as a Patient Advocate. In his role as Advocate, Corey served 16 years as a first point of contact for students impacted by sexual violence, domestic violence, stalking, and harassment and helped connect them to safety resources and forensic, medical, and mental health care. He also performed screenings for depression, anxiety, substance use, and other mental health concerns before linking students to treatment providers on campus and in the community. Corey also has experience as a drug and alcohol educational consultant, a project director for a victim services grant that secured over $2.15 million in federal funding, a subcontracted treatment provider for Adult Drug Court, and as a crisis intervention counselor partnering with law enforcement officers when responding (on-scene) to mental health emergencies.
In 2017, Corey joined the team at Resolutions Counseling as a counselor serving adolescents, teens, and adults. Corey conducts evaluations for substance abuse and anger and he also provides individual counseling for clients experiencing Adjustment Disorders/Transition, Anxiety, Depression, Suicidal Thoughts, Substance Abuse, Difficulty with Anger Management, Stress, Panic Attacks, Trauma, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Concerns related to Gender & Sexuality. Corey also works with clients experiencing Behavior Problems, Self-injury, Eating Disorders, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and/or Bipolar Disorder so long as the condition is openly acknowledged, actively treated, and there is motivation to seek stability.
Corey offers appointments during the evenings and on Saturdays so that clients avoid the need to miss school or work. Please note that Corey does not offer standing appointments; appointments are scheduled on a week-to-week basis and may shift to different days and times based on mutual availability. This rolling schedule system allows greater flexibility when your needs change (e.g. a baseball game, a concert, going out of town) and avoids delays in treatment. Corey is intentional to limit the number of clients he serves at any given time to ensure the availability of appointments.
